John Bersani has great friends, and they cook. Some are famous, and some aren’t so well known. He has released an excellent cookbook where he showcases his friends and allows them to present excellent recipes in 20 Amici – 40 Ricette (20 Friends ― 40 Recipes): Friends and Food from the Heart of Chianti. His friends, all who live close to Chianti, make wonderful Italian dishes, many of them containing wines of the region.

This excellent cookbook may only have 40 recipes, but they are recipes worth making and eating. They are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that make the recipes easy to follow. Some of the recipes are Italian classics, and some unique and aren’t so well-Known. The recipes are accompanied by beautiful, professional photographs that make dishes look mouthwatering.

The vignettes on Bersani’s friends are interesting and inspiring; actually it is a book to take into a quiet place and read cover to cover. This is Italian food at its best. Yum!
