Anyone looking for easy, fun, family friendly dishes will want to pick up a copy of Celebrating Every Day: A Fun and Easy Cookbook for Kid-Friendly Meals and Snacks, Get Your Little Chefs Involved!, by Melissa Johnson, who is a down-to-earth Mom and blogger. Johnson presents recipes that make food special every day for her family, and most readers and sometime cooks (many of us are too busy to cook everyday) will love the way to present good food to their families in a celebratory manner whether it’s a real holiday or not.
The recipes range from tried and true recipes that have made the circuit through cookbooks, neighborhoods, church dinners, and Pinterest posts, to new and innovative ways to make a what would be boring dish fun and appealing. Each recipe includes notes, vignettes, or helpful hints at the beginning, followed by a list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow for both beginning and advanced cooks. Most of the recipes are simple to make and call for ingredients that are available at any mainstream grocery store.
Any good cookbook includes photographs, and this one has colorful, professional photographs of almost every dish. Children will want to peruse this book and will find lots of recipes that they want to eat. The dishes, however, aren’t just for kids and are fun to make any time for anyone, even for adults. (I have a family of 2, and have had fun with the recipes just for me and my husband).
All told, this is a fun one and has plenty of appealing recipes presented in a celebratory manner.
