There’s something amazing about food cooked outdoors over a fire. Fire pits are very popular right now, and it’s fun to utilize them to cook a good meal. For those who don’t know where to start and how to cook good food in a fire pit, there is an excellent cookbook, Firepit Feast: Adventurous Recipes for Live-Fire Cooking, by Diana Yen, who takes readers and would-be outdoor cooks through the steps of cooking over a live fire.

The introductory chapters include all of the information that is needed to set up a fire, equipment needed, and helpful information. After the preliminaries, Yen has included unique and mouthwatering recipes that may surprise you as suitable for cooking over a fire. There are several foil dinners that are very appealing, as well as stuffed pockets, both sweet and savory. Yen has also included sweet and savory skewers.

The recipes are easy to follow, and are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that make it easy for anyone to make. Yen has added comments at the beginning of each recipe that are very helpful.

Almost every recipe is accompanied by a beautiful, professional photograph that showcase the dishes. All told, this cookbook is a good primer for outdoor cooking, whether making dishes while camping, or j
just in the backyard. The prose is excellent and the cookbook is a joy to read.
