Steven Raichlen is the bestselling author of several cookbooks on outdoor cooking – grilling, smoking etc., and now he has given us his expertise on a flattop which many take camping or to outdoor get togethers. Project Griddle: The Versatile Art of Grilling on a Flattop is, as is expected from Raichlen, and is excellent. He explains the dos and don’ts of using a flattop grill and introduces readers (and would-be outdoor chefs) to new, innovative recipes, as well as those most of us already cook on a grill.
Raichlen’s personality always comes through when reading his cookbooks. He writes in a pleasant manner and his notes are easy to understand. His recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions. The recipes are easy to follow and suitable for both beginning and advanced cooks, and are very appealing. There is something here for everyone, even picky eaters.
One of the best parts of this cookbook is that most of the recipes, as well as basics are accompanied by beautiful, professional photographs that make the dishes especially mouthwatering.
All told, this is an excellent cookbook full of recipes for everyone and the book deserves a place in a home cookbook library.
