With all the fast food, frozen dinners, and convenience items, many people have forgotten how to cook. But with the price of food, parents need to teach their children the basics of cooking. Children’s tastes have changed over the years, and kids like different dishes than their parents or grandparents. Luckily, Danielle Kartes has released an excellent children’s book, The Best Kid’s Cookbook: 60 Fun and Simple Recipes to Get Kids Cooking, that takes into account the changing palates of children, as well as basics that kids need to cook dishes on their own.
This cookbook is colorful, and includes dozens of cute illustrations. It also includes easy recipes that are written in the traditional manner so that kids can learn to follow a recipe. The ingredients are listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions, as well as notes from the author to help the junior cooks complete the recipes successfully. The recipes are also accompanied by beautiful, professional photographs of each dish.
Another excellent aspect of this cookbook is instructions for measuring and basics, the importance of having an adult present, cleaning up, and safety guidelines.
All told, this is an excellent cookbook to present to children; it includes dishes that kids (and many adults) will want to eat, and will make learning to cook fun.
