NBC Networks To Air Hurricane Katrina Benefit Tonight
In response to the tragedy brought on by Hurricane Katrina, the NBC Universal Television Group will air a live benefit special, "A Concert For Hurricane Relief," in high-definition on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 8:00pm (ET). The show will be tape-delayed when broadcast to the West Coast. The special will also be broadcast on PAX and simulcast on MSNBC.com, NBC.com, XM and Sirius Satellite radio.

The hour-long, music and celebrity driven broadcast will be hosted by the Today Show's Matt Lauer, and will be broadcast entirely from the New York studios of NBC located in 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

The benefit will feature performances by artists with ties to the affected areas, including Tim McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill, Harry Connick, Jr., Wynton Marsalis and Aaron Neville.

Also appearing during the telethon will be Mike Myers, Hilary Swank, Lindsay Lohan, Claire Danes, John Goodman, Eriq LaSalle, Eli Manning and Leonardo DiCaprio.

McGraw, who hails from Start, Louisiana, says, "I am heartbroken by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in my home state. Like so many Americans I am watching the news reports with great sadness. But it's at times like these that each of us must work together to provide lifesaving aid to those in terrible need. I sincerely encourage everyone to support the American Red Cross, government efforts and others in the non-profit community with this historically unprecedented undertaking."

Capital One is exclusively underwriting the commercial-free, hour-long special.

If you'd like to donate prior to the telecast, please visit the American Red Cross website at www.redcross.org.
