In years past I have purchased notecards and bookmarks on ebay as holiday gifts for teachers and other professionals that work with my two children on the Autism Spectrum.

Since I give out Autism Awareness items like bumper stickers, buttons, keychains and bookmarks in preparation for Autism Awareness Month in April, I don't always give gifts at year-end since resources are low at this time for my family.

This year I decided to get a few items for myself from Cure Autism Now and Autism Society of America. On November 24, 2005 I placed my orders simultaneously with both sites.

I ordered postage stamps, a decal and ornament from ASA which totalled $40.60 and notecards, business card holder and a luggage tag from CAN for $27.60. I was a bit worried when the ASA email stated my order would be delivered in 4-6 weeks. Since I am a member of ASA and signed up for their emails a few days later an email was received mentioning that orders placed by December 14, 2005 will arrive by Christmas.

Cure Autism Now is located in Los Angeles, where I reside, so I knew that my order would get here quickly. It arrived December 1, 2005 - one week to get three items to the same city via UPS where a signature was required. Sales tax is added to the order for residents of California with CAN. The store is managed by PromoShop, Inc. Orders that are placed by December 16, 2005 will arrive on time for the holiday season.

The luggage tag is a mere $5.00, made of stainless steel with a black nylon strap, wrapped in plastic within a gray slim box. This holds standard US size business card and is made by Zippo. This is a perfect item for a business associate, client, assistant or therapist. Anyone that travels for business will appreciate this luggage tag gift.

The business card holder sells for $10.50, comes in a gray box, packaged similar to a wallet. Made by Gemline in China it is simulated grain leather and holds 40 cards. The Cure Autism Now logo is on the front and there are two sections for storing business cards.

The box is ready for gift giving - there are no prices on the products. The business card holder is great to give a therapist to hold their cards, or any other professional your family may deal with.

The notecards are wrapped in plastic and contain 10 cards with white envelopes. These are colorful collages of children's handprints as the front cover of the card.

This would make a nice gift for family members, teachers, therapists and colleagues for doing their thank you notes throughout the year. The back portion of the card has information about Autism and Cure Autism Now.

Cure Autism Now also sells coffee mugs, keyholders, mouse pads, jackets, shirts, tote bags, watches, window cling, picture frame, desk clock, notebook journal, pens, stamps, holiday ornament, baseball cap and gift baskets. Orders shipped to US destinations include shipping and handling. For international orders an additional ten dollars is added for a shipping and handling fee.

The confirmation email is received quickly with the order number and details on your order. It is stated that postage stamps are shipped separately.

The Autism Society of America sells postage stamps, ornaments, decals, car magnets, emergency decals, information cards, bookmarks, awareness cards, wristbands, earrings, moneyclips, ribbon pins and brochures.

I purchased from the Asa Web Store a sheet of postage stamps for $20.00, a personal information record for $2.00 and an official collectable ASA ornament at $15.00. The email listed the tracking code along with a breakdown of the fair market value of the items ordered being $22.00. The shipping and handling added was a very reasonable $3.60 with $15.00 listed as the tax deductible amount.

ASA has a Christmas tree ornament for $20.00 that is very cute.

There are Hanukah gifts at ASA as well. They also have items for the Spanish Speaking Community. When shopping with both sites I registered with a login name and password.
