From the increasingly popular original content creator, Netflix, comes a new drama staring Jason Bateman as financial planner, Marty Byrde. The first season consists of 10 episodes. Marty and his partner have been laundering money for a large drug cartel for years. One day, the cartel discovers that Marty's partner has been stealing from the cartel. The cartel retaliate by killing Marty's partner. As the cartel's crime lord, Camino Del Rio, is about to kill Marty, Marty tells him about a plan where Marty can relocate to the Missouri Ozarks and launder a substantially higher amount of money.

Marty relocates his family, which includes his wife and two children, to the Ozarks. Once there, Marty has to find business deals where he can launder the huge amount of money that he has been tasked with. After being shot down by business after business, he finds a waterfront restore that his willing to partner with him. Once it's clear that Marty will need additional business ventures, he looks towards purchasing the local strip club and building a new church.

However things are no where near easy for Marty and his family. He continues to experience obstacle after obstacle while trying to launder the cartel's money. Along the way, he meets the Snells, who are the resident heroin dealers. The Snells are ruthless and quickly become a problem for Marty.

He's also robbed by local criminals and he decides to hire one of them (Ruth) to run the strip club. Ruth's plan is to learn how to launder money from Marty and then rob him again. Also a problem for Marty is the FBI agents that have followed him and his family to Missouri in an effort to take down the drug cartel that Marty is working for.

During every episode Marty is basically faced with a seemingly insurmountable challenge however his quick thinking helps him out of every situation. Jason Bateman is perfect for this role as he is believable and manages to deliver his lines with a bit of humor while trying to save his life and the lives of his family.

Netflix has already renewed Ozark for a second season.
