Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party

Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party
There are a ton of cooking shows currently on television but the majority of those shows are competition-cooking shows like Top Chef, Master Chef, and Iron Chef. As a result, it seems that the timing is perfect for VH1’s new cooking show, Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party.

The show is hosted by best-selling author and television personality Martha Stewart (dubbed as the Queen of Cuisine) along with rapper and actor Snoop Dogg (dubbed the King of Kush). Each episode focuses on the two hosts making themed related dishes. There are cocktails, cooking, and conversation. After each dish is prepared, the hosts, along with their celebrity guests, sit down and enjoy the meal. The “potluck” portion comes into play since each guest brings a dish with him or her to add to the meal.

Episodes are 30 minutes each and the first season was so well received via social media and television critics that it was renewed for a second season after only 2 episodes. (The season premiere episode was 1 hour). So far there have been plenty of guests appearing on the show including Robin Thicke, Wiz Khalifia, Naya Rivera, Ice Cube, and Ashley Graham.

There is no denying that Martha and Snoop have a great on screen chemistry. Their relationship stems back many years from Snoop appearing on Martha’s television show. They also appeared on Comedy Central’s Roast of Justin Bieber together.

There are tons of jokes going around but there are also tons of helpful cooking tips as well. From Snoop making fried chicken in 15 minutes to Martha marinating her chicken overnight, it’s clear that each host is serious about their dishes. As an added bonus, VH1 has promised that all of the recipes used on the show will be available online.

When the hosts and guests sit down to eat, they discuss various topics and/or play games just as a group would during a traditional dinner party.

Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party is a breath of fresh air as a new and original television show that caters to a diverse audience.
