Make Weekend Cash with Side Jobs

Make Weekend Cash with Side Jobs
Sometimes you just need a little extra cash to help alleviate a larger-than-expected bill or to cover an irregular cost. When you do, there are plenty of ways to earn a little extra cash over the course of a weekend. The next time you need to earn extra money, try out one of these ideas.

Domestic Work or “Handyman” Tasks

Taking on odd jobs is a quick way to earn cash. You will need to build up a few potential clients before the weekend, but you can do that by networking with people you know. Also, contact small local cleaning companies to see if you can be put on an “occasional” list for work that needs to be completed when they are overbooked.

If your need for weekend cash comes up unexpectedly, try reaching out on Facebook or by texting people you know. Ask if they have any basic repairs or need any cleaning done. Someone may take you up on the offer just to get a project they’ve just let languish finally get done.

Yard Work

Whether it’s shoveling snow, planting flowers, raking leaves, or mowing grass, there are outside jobs for every season of the year. Offer to handle yard work duties for neighbors when they go on vacation or just do one or two seasonal yard work weekends a year. Perhaps offer to weed and mulch when spring comes. By doing three to four yards over the course of a weekend, you can earn extra money with a side job and get a great workout in!

Babysitting

In areas with an average cost of living, babysitting services cost $10-12 per hour. If you babysit on Friday and Saturday evening, earning $100 shouldn’t be difficult. Advertise your services on local bulletin boards or neighborhood Facebook groups. Also, check out sites like Care.com and Sittercity.com that allow you to post your profile, availability, and qualifications. You can connect with interest parents there easily and respond only to jobs that interest you.

Delivering Phone Books

Yes, people still get phone books although they are becoming less common. Contact the companies that provide landline services in your area to find out how to sign up. Phone books usually are delivered once a year, and you can make $100 a day delivering them on a weekend.

Catering Gigs

Catering companies have most of their events on the weekend, and they use part-timers to serve as waiters, cooks, and cleaning crew members. Contact local catering companies to complete applications and background checks. Then you can work with your weekend availability and their needs to pick up extra cash.
