On October 4, 2008 at Greenbriar Mall from 2-5 pm some of the top gospel artists from all over the world including as far away as Malaysia, will hit the stage to raise funds for The Clinton Ron Walker Scholarship Fund! That day will be a culmination of so many things for my family and I. It will be the continuation of celebrating the life of my son by funding education for his peers and deserving Georgia students.

This event will also allow us the opportunity to educate so many of our youth on heart issues and how to keep their hearts healthy. Most importantly it may save others from the heartache we experienced when we lost Clinton to an undiagnosed heart defect. Through music, fun, and education it is our hope that the youth of Georgia and all who attend will leave knowing what to do to stay healthy and how to apply for one of the most attainable scholarships on the scene.

The Clinton Ron Walker Scholarship Fund Inc will offer students in the Georgia area two monetary scholarships totaling between $250-$1,000 each. Students interested in the scholarships should fill out the scholarship application, complete a biography about themselves and write a poem or essay on friendship. Friendship was one of the most important things to Clinton, if you were his friend that was it...he was a ride or die friend until the very end. That is why so many of his friends spoke so beautifully about him at his funeral and gave their lives to God because they knew that loving God and being a friend is what Clinton was all about.

When I first thought of putting this show together I wasn't at all sure how to go about it or even if it would work, however the Lord put it on my heart and it would not go away. So I started asking my friends who are talented Gospel artists if they could do it for me.

From the beginning Canton Jones said yes and within days I had his confirmation letter in my hands. Canton and his wife Ramona were so moved by Clinton's story that they did not hesitate to agree to be there and the generosity of Canton and his entire staff at Cajo International has been overwhelming. He is a man of his word, genuine and true through and through.

Next up was my girl Wanda Trent-Phillips. What can I say about Wanda...just plain old good people. Talented, sweet as sugar and loyal to the upmost is Wanda. We have been friends since I first moved to the "A" and my love for her is solid...no doubt. She put me in touch with Gwen Motley, at Greenbriar, a blessing for this entire event, who said we could have the concert at the mall and the rest was history.

Soon after my good friend Patrick Leong from Malaysia agreed to travel 22 hours to perform for the concert. This will be his first trip to the states and I know that most of you are not aware of Patrick Leong but suffice it to say he is very well known in his home country. Opening up for artists such as famed opera performer Luciano Pavarotti, Patrick's voice is pure, rich, beautiful and full of heart. He has dedicated a special song in Clinton's memory that he will perform at the event and let me tell you...I can't keep the tears in check whenever I listen to it. Spoken word peeps like the dynamic Platinum Souls and my good friend from Detroit, Saleem Ameer Hakim were added to the rouster. I have known Ameer for years, he is like a brother to me, his flow is smooth as silk, electrifying and will set the place on fire. He is also set to perform something in Clinton's memory..yeah I will have plenty of tissue on hand for sure that day. Platinum Souls is the gospel equivalent of Floetry but with God's grace in the mix and a must see for all.

Adding that grown folks groove into the show is my man Christopher Lewis! I'm so ready to move to his hot tracks of "How Many Saint Does it Take to Party" and "Joy" that I can hardly stand it! Christopher and I share a bond in the fact that we both had children who were born with heart defects. His daughter is currently being treated and by God's grace she is doing well.

I couldn't forget the choirs, Abundant Life Church Choir, my home church choir...I love them so much and James Jackson and Atlanta Praise both groups are full of blessed voices and will rock the house!

Finally my peeps all personal friends and relatives of mine that will open things up...Carmen Bonner, Regina Jimison, and Joseph Westbrook, three of the top background singers around will now get their chance to shine and sing up front. Believe me these people have sung for everybody from Millie Jackson to Alexander O'Neal they have been in the back doing it up big.

All of this will be hosted by DJ Dr. Feelgood who will keep the show flowing and the jokes coming! This show is going to be simply put...off da chains! Trust me you will not want to miss it!
