Spanish tip - one more / un-una más

Spanish tip - one more / un-una más
Yes, the translation of this word: "more" is "más", in Spanish. But do you know how to translate this sentence?

"I want to read one more page."

Its translation is: "Quiero leer una página más".

When people translate "one more...", they follow the English language pattern. But note it is different in Spanish :

  • one more + substantive = un / una + substantive + más
Examples:

Te lo diré una vez más: Tienes que estudiar. (I'll tell you one more time(or "once more"): you have to study.)

Y una cosa más: Prefiero el rojo. ("And one more thing: I prefer the red one.)

Other uses and expressions of the word "más":

- Nunca más: Never again.
- ¿Qué más? : What else?
- ¿Algo más?: Anything else?
- Más bien: rather.
- Más o menos: More or less.
- Es más: In fact

I have just created a video where you can see this text and listen to the pronunciation of each Spanish sentence. Here is the video: Video: Spanish Tip of the month: One more....- Un/una ... más
