Fear Not
Fear is a natural emotion that is experienced when we are put in a dangerous situation. Fear can also be triggered when we are faced with the unknown. Fear is an emotion that can be controlled.
There are many instances in the bible where God has said to fear not. In Genesis 15:1, the bible says after these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
In another instance, Isaiah 41:10 says Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, we can rest in his hands. The Lord is our shield. He is with us. He will give us strength.
When we think in terms of a shield, we can envision a large cover from head to toe. Regardless of what comes against us, our shield protects us. The Lord is our shield of protection. There is no weapon that can penetrate the shield that the Lord covers us with because He is the shield.
When we accept Our Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we receive his spirit. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
The Lord will give us strength to endure any situation. We must remember that our timing is not His timing. We expect our prayers to be answered in an instant. This may not always be the case.
If we read the book of Genesis, we find that Abram waited may years for a son. The Lord changed his name from Abram to Abraham. The Lord promised him that he would be the father of many nations. In fact, Abraham became impatient with God. He feared that he would not receive the promise of God. He and his wife Sarah decided to help God out by impregnating Hagar, thereby producing a son out of sin by the name of Ishmael. Yes, they produced a son, but this was not the son that God had promised Abraham.
God cannot tell a lie. The son that God promised Abraham and Sarah was conceived at a very old age. Abraham waited twenty-five years for his promise to come to pass at the age of one hundred.
Regardless of what the situation looks like, know that God is in control. Do not allow fear to set into your mind. It is a natural emotion. It is also a spirit that was not given to you by the Lord. A situation may seem hopeless.
It may seem as if the prayer may not be answered. Do not give up. God does not go back on a promise. If he said it, then he will do it. Continue to pray and believe that you will receive. The Lord is a great reward. You will receive exceedingly, abundantly, above all than you can ask or think so Fear Not.
