Greetings and Salutations -
Many of you have been following my server update progress on my various social media accounts. Thank you so much for your encouragement. We've been having issues with our servers for over a year now, and I was testing out first the Amazon cloud and then the Google cloud. Neither one worked well for what we needed. I finally found a hosting facility in Troy NY which has been reliable, stable, and fast. So I think we finally have a path.
I've been slowly but steadily moving my other sites to ramp up the tests on them. With all the problems we've had over the past year I didn't want to move us into yet another iffy situation. But the tests have all gone very well. I just moved WineIntro which is my third largest site. Next up comes my LisaShea.com site which is my second largest.
And then comes BellaOnline.
I'll note I have two separate servers with TurnKey. The first server is for all these other sites like WineIntro and LisaShea and so on. Once I'm sure those are fully up and stable, I'm going to set up the second server so its software matches that first one. Then I'll email you all to let you know I'm ready to begin the process of moving BellaOnline.
It'll probably take about two full days to move BellaOnline over. I need to move all the files, the mail server, multiple databases, and so on. So during that time the site won't be able to be updated. I will email you at every stage of the process.
And then I'll shut down these existing servers and our speed woes and site-hiccup woes should all be behind us! Hurrah! An early holiday present :).
So the status right now is that I need to move the LisaShea site as the final test of TurnKey Server 1. Once I get the LisaShea site and MailEnable software on "Server #1" and it's running smoothly, the test will be complete. I'll be ready to trust them with BellaOnline.
I'll then install all the software like PHP and IIS and ASP and so on onto "Server #2". And then I'll let you all know I'm ready to start the BellaOnline move process. My guess is that it'll still be a few more days. I'll let you know.
Thank you everyone so much for their patience as we've been dealing with this. I know it's been frustrating for everyone, me included. This has affected every single site I have. I've been trying for months to test out and find options, but we have a specific set of needs for our site since we've been around for 20 years and that has added to the challenge. I think we are finally with a company that supports what we need, at a price we can afford, and the stars are aligning.
Ask with any questions, and I'll send another update in a few days!
