MLB announced that the Red Sox have won the bidding for the right to negotiate with pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka for the amazing sum of $51.1 million. This money is paid to Matsuzaka’s team, the Seibu Lions. It will be returned if the Red Sox and Matsuzaka cannot arrive at a contract in 30 days.
