Greetings and Salutations -
I know this might sound counter-intuitive, but I just had a chat with one of the anti-spam companies. They said if we send our mail out too quickly, and inundate a mail server like gmail with lots of mail at once, that we look like a spammer.
They recommended that we have our mail server send mail slowly and steadily. Even if it takes longer to get to everyone, it's less likely to look like a spammer and more likely to look like legitimate mail.
So I've changed the settings on our mail system so mail goes out more slowly. It'll still "loop quickly" from your admin area. All the mail then ends up in our queue. It will process along slowly from there, working its way through the messages.
This means it might take an hour or two before all of your newsletter members get their email.
I know this is a bit of a pain in a world where we want instant gratification. Still, I want to make sure we don't get tagged as a spammer and blocked completely.
I'm continuing to talk with all the various anti-spam people so they know what our status is.
Ask with any questions, and have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Lisa Shea, owner
