February 17 2009 Folklore and Mythology Newsletter

Greetings to Folks near and far. I do hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

My computer was in the repair shop so I missed last week's newsletter - I apologize for that. But, here I am and here is your latest newsletter from Folklore at BellaOnline.

Sandi Ault has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Ms. Ault writes with an impact that gives the reader the impression of being right there in every scene. She has a riveting series of books called "The Wild Series". Her first book in this series, "Wild Indigo", introduces some very memorable and lovable characters. This series is set in the enchanting lands of the Puebloans of the Southwest USA. Ms. Ault brings out the touchingly beautiful and ancient folklore of the Taos Pueblo peoples and weaves it together with the modern day Native American lore and history to create compelling stories with intriguing mysteries, mayhem and murder. Ms. Ault's main character, Jamaica Wild, is a tough and daring woman who also has a heart big enough to include her love for Nature and all creation. Jamaica's constant companion is, Mountain, an orphaned wolf she adopted when he was just a cub. The antics of Mountain and the daring adventures of Jamaica and the poignant ancient lore will keep you on the edge till the last page. The following two books in the series are "Wild Inferno" and "Wild Sorrow". You will want to get these on your list of "must haves" for some compelling and exciting reading! For a glimpse into these wonderful stories, you can read my book reviews on The Wild Series at http://www.belaonline.com/articles/art21468.asp and at http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art24057.asp

Sandi Ault will be having a tour for "Wild Sorrow" next month, March, at the following bookstores. If one of these locations are near you, you will be happy you attended. Ms. Ault is a vivacious and wonderful person to meet and her books will create a new "favorite characters" list in your library. Ms. Ault is currently working on her fourth book in this series.

Another exciting up and coming author is Shannon Lee Wolf. Miss Wolf's first book, "Dover Graye" is a compelling story of a young man who was torn too soon from his Shamanistic training in the 1700's and hurtled into the 1960's amongst an entirely different setting. Dover Graye was born with an uncanny memory, vision and the sense that something was left incomplete - from the moment of his birth, he knew something must be finished properly, but what? Miss Wolf combines ancient folklore of the Celtic race with Native American lore and the spirituality of both to create a stunningly beautiful story woven with mysteries from the past. For a glimpse into Dover Graye, read my book review at http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art25052.asp

Shannon Lee Wolf has a crisp and deeply spiritual style of writing that will endear her and her book to your heart.

Till next time, Folks, may your home be filled with laughter and may it ring from floor to rafter. Blessings and walk in Peace and Beauty.
