Greetings and Salutations -
I was looking through the editor goals today that you sent me back in January and many of you asked for help in streamlining your lives. You'd like to organize your tasks more efficiently. That's a perfect chat topic!
Let's do a chat on Tuesday, February 26th at 3pm EST. This is a different time than we normally do, and this should let editors attend who often can't make it. We try to mix things up every once in a while. Mark it on your calendars! As always, if you can't make it we'll post the log afterwards for you to read. You can find all our chat logs in the Editor Assistance site. If you haven't read through them yet, I highly recommend it! We provide a wealth of information on social networking, making money on the web, running your own business, and much more.
STRESS RELIEF
Another popular topic with editors :). I just finished up my six week course on Stress Relief. It was great. If you'd like my notes, I'm happy to send them along. The book highly encouraged meditation and yoga as two rock-solid ways to reduce stress. We have forums for both so definitely swing by those to get started.
Our last assignment included watching a 1-hour video by National Geographic on stress which was fascinating.

In part, they show graphically that stress damages your arteries. It's not just "in your head". It is physically damaging your body. It is something that you should begin to address today. Stress damages your brain cells, so they don't connect as well to neighboring brain cells. Stress makes you think less clearly, although you don't realize it. It's like being drunk. You think you are absolutely fine, but somehow putting your keys into the keyhole takes eight times as long.
We have a Stress Management forum - definitely post in there with your challenges. We can help you find solutions!
The video talks about how much of stress comes down to *control*. If you feel "out of control" stress happens. You need to find ways to control things that you can control. And for things you can NOT control, you need to release them. The weather and traffic are out of your control. So release them and accept them. It can't help to stress about them, because there's nothing you can do. Focus on the things you have control over, and take steps with those.
As always, let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to talking with you in the forums!
