Porters and stouts are compatible additions to a spice or chocolate cake recipe.  They lend moistness to the cake itself, and enhance the flavors of chocolate and spice.

A man is walking by a brewpub and hears the patrons chanting, "Thirteen! Thirteen! Thirteen!"

Quite curious about all this, he sees a hole in the door, looks in, and someone pokes him in the eye.

Everyone in the brewpub starts chanting "Fourteen! Fourteen! Fourteen!"

Beer News:

A federal court in Germany has overturned the German Purity Law of 1516, allowing a small brewer to add sugar syrup to its dark beer.  The Reinheitsgebot had forbidden anything but malted grain, water, hops and yeast in the making of beer.  This ended a ten year court battle for the
east German brewery.

This American Pale Ale is crystalline amber with a reddish sparkle and lovely off-white head that paints nice lacing down the sides of the glass. Hoppy, floral, piney and intense, with smooth balance.  Highly drinkable!
