March 2 2012 Editor Assistance Newsletter

Greetings and Salutations!

I hope you are all enjoying your March! March is a great time to begin taking steps towards your goals, now that we're settling into the new year!

Jeanne is back from her break, so she should be good to go for any questions about the forums, graphics, and other related topics. She's at resources@bellaonline.com. It's good to have you back, Jeanne!

Jilly is going to be taking a break for a few months. So if you're a fully graduated editor and need help with general site related topics, keep using editorhelp@bellaonline.com and I'll field those questions.

FACEBOOK FAN PAGES

Many editors are having great success in engaging their fans with a Facebook fan page. This is a great way to get news of your latest articles paid attention to and commented on. Many people hang out on Facebook all day long, so when your article promo pops up in their stream, they see it and click on it!

Facebook is about to launch a new look to Facebook Fan Pages, so it's good to take a look and see what it's about! It involves a two column timeline style layout, just like Facebook personal pages now use. It also allows you to post a huge top banner area, to promote whatever image you wish! Here are just a few examples of how this can be customized -

I have full details on how to make this top image here -

If you have any questions, or need help brainstorming or creating your top image, just post in our blogs forum! We will merrily help you get it all set. I definitely recommend playing with this and putting it live. It's a great way to brand your project and get more visitors reading your articles.

If you haven't tried a Facebook fan page yet, post in the blogs forum and we'll help you get started! It's VERY easy to do and can boost traffic quite a lot.

If you have non-BellaOnline projects I recommend you make fan pages for them too! As you can see I have one for my medieval romance novels, and it keeps my readers interested and waiting for the next releases. The same can work for any project you're involved in!

NOVEMBER WEEKLY WRITING

Our first November winner is Michelle Matile, our Chocolate editor! Michelle joined us in April 2011. I know many of us adore chocolate and avidly watch her site for information and recipes :)

Our second winner is Cheryll Schuette who writes for our Baha'i site! Cheryll began writing with us in May 2010, and offers a fascinating look into the Baha'i Faith.

Michelle and Cheryll - congratulations! Please send me the email address you'd like me to use for your Amazon gift certificate :)

OK, now back to my email catch-up project - I will get there soon! :)
