I always have a box in the garage ready to go to a thrift store and when I see something in my house I no longer want, it goes into the box and then the box goes on the curb when a thrift store pick up is scheduled.

But recently I've had the same box in my garage for a while and it wasn't being added to and it wasn't being donated. There was stuff in my house I didn't want, but somehow the unwanted stuff wasn't leaving.

I had a week's warning of a pick up from a thrift store and determined that the box in the garage and more would leave the house.

I put a plastic bag in the kitchen (not the garage) to collect clothing and one by one I added to it. Then I needed a second bag and I realized I was decluttering again after a pause of about 3 months.

The box and two plastic bags were donated and now I have a new box in the garage that is being added to.

The thing is, clutter is not conquered by doing a lot all at once, but by dealing with little and often. This week's article is a list of decluttering tips to help you reduce the clutter around you.
