This Week's Canadian Fun Fact

Despite Canada's reputation for being snowbound and wintery, we are neither the coldest nor the snowiest place on earth. According to Google Earth Extremes Series, those credits go to Antarctica and Mt. Baker in Washington respectively. The coldest average annual temperatures in Canada were recorded on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut and the largest accumulation of snow in Canada is on Mt Fidelity in Glacier National Park, BC.

What's Up Canuck? Your Weekly Canadian Trivia Question

Last Week's Question & Answer:

LacrosseWhy was lacrosse Canada's original official sport?

According to the Canadian Lacrosse Association's official website, lacrosse was chosen as Canada's official national sport in 1859. It was originally played by the Native American people, who taught it to the European settlers. The game took hold and by the time it was named Canada's national sport it was enjoying great popularity. Hockey, Canada's other national sport, has only been a national sport officially since 1994.
