Attention Deficit Disorder

April 14 2011 Attention Deficit Disorder Newsletter

Here's the latest article from the Attention Deficit Disorder site at BellaOnline.com.

Greetings from the Land of Oz!

This week I have two articles for you. The sunlight, blooming flowers, and smells of spring have put energy into my days and evenings. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write for you. It is just a great deal of fun!

People First Language and ADD

Have you ever heard a child described as "an ADD child?" This language is everywhere! When you are speaking of a person, coupled with a disability or condition, it is better to put the person first. The condition or disability is mentioned second. This is what "people first" language is about.

Summer Camp for Kids with ADD

It's not too early to think about choosing a summer camp for your child. It can be a chance of a lifetime!

Summer is the time to refresh the spirit and build memories. If you decide to send your child to summer camp, carefully choose a camp that is a good match for your child's needs! Summer camp can help foster independence and permit your child to have experiences that help him develop his interests.

As always, the forum is open for your posts. Feel free to add some "people first" language to our collection! Les Shulman, another editor posted several excellent examples. I'm sure that there are others that we've forgotten. Would you help out?

Have a blessed week!
Connie
