Greetings and Salutations -

I'm awake and everything is looking good so far. I have a number of tweaks to make to memory and such, but right now I'm focused on the main move process so we can get everything settled onto the new server.

The main task left is mail. I'll be starting that in a few hours once "prime time" is over for most of the US, so we impact the fewest people possible.

No mail gets lost when this happens. Instead, senders who reach "nobody home" just keep retrying. So they'll keep retrying until we're live on the new end, and then the mail will go through. Mail gets delayed but not lost.

Here's how it works.

I'll stop the mail on the old server. I'll zip up those files and move them to the new server. Then I unzip them on the new side and set up the mail systems. Because these files can be so large, each step here takes a while. Once the mail goes live on the new server, I do the same request to Network Solutions to get that Mail.BellaOnline.com new address information distributed around the world. It can take up to 24 hours for that process to happen. Once it finishes, everyone in the world sees the new mail server and everything is running again.

Because the mail move process has long gaps of waiting in between steps, while these large files process, I may also do the forum software update in those middle periods. That way the forum gets updated to the latest version.

UBB - our forum people - do have a mobile version nearly ready. It's not final yet, though, and I'd rather not wait to see if it'll be soon. So I'll do this upgrade and when they finally do release that mobile version we'll update to it right away. I know many of you are waiting for that mobile version. Judging by our visitor logs, many of our visitors will appreciate that as well.
