Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

A Barrel holds 31.5 U.S. gallons
A Keg holds a half-barrel or approximately 15 gallons and weighs about 136 pounds ("Real-life" experiments translate that to about one-hundred-forty-two 12-cup servings).
An Import Keg is 13.2 gallons of beer.
A Pony or Quarter-barrel Keg holds 7.75 gallons.
A Sixth-barrel Keg is ~5 gallons.
A 750 ml bottle serves approximately three 8-ounce glasses of beer.
An average bottle of beer is 12 ounces.
A Middle or a Pot holds 10 ounces.
A Schooner is 15 ounces.
A Stubbie is approximately 12 ounces, but is shorter and fatter than the typical American beer bottle.

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

Two students had a week of exams coming up. They decided to party instead. Their biggest exam was on Wednesday and they showed up telling the professor that their car had broken down the night before due to a very flat tire and they needed a bit more time to study.

The professor told them that they could have another day to study. That evening, both of the boys crammed all night until they were sure that they knew just about everything.

Arriving to class the next morning, each boy was told to go to two separate classrooms to take the exam. Each boy just shrugged and went to two different parts of the building.

As each sat down, they read the directions:

"For 5 points, explain the contents of an atom. For 95 points, tell me WHICH tire it was!"

Dicky Fife of Dux de Luxe in Christchurch, New Zealand is developing a beer targeted at the growing number of women who are converting to beer as their preferred social drink.  A new character profile that parallels the flavors in Black Forest cake is the result of a two-year aging process in pinot noir barrels.

Sweet, fruit nuances become merged with the chocolate-espresso backbone, resulting in a robust beer with dessert-like distinction.

Craft Brew of the Week Award:

Rapscallion Premier from Concord Brewery, Lowell, Massachusetts, USA.
Style -  American Blonde Ale

Golden copper-orange with gorgeous antique-white head.
Up-front malt sweetness of caramel, toffee and butterscotch are balanced with citrus hoppiness and a complexity that parallels a Belgian Ale.
