If you haven't yet bookmarked NASA's wonderful Astronomy Picture of the Day, I highly recommend it. It's a treat seeing what interesting and awesome sight they've chosen each day. The pictures are accompanied by an explanation and there's an archive of pictures too.

Last week, I loved the picture of the Milky Way over ancient rock paintings in Utah. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap100519.html

But the most amazing recent one doesn't look like much at first glance. It's a daylight shot through a telescope. They managed to catch both the Moon and Venus together and in their crescent phases. Venus, like the Moon, has phases when seen from Earth, but you do need binoculars or a telescope to see them. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap100516.html
