Quilting

May 5 2009 Quilting Newsletter

Hello everyone, it’s the middle of the week again. Boy does time fly these days, or what! I’ve a pretty busy day ahead of me today. Apart from writing this newsletter and sending it off to you I’m going to be getting my workshop requirements together for this weekend. For a change, I’m not giving a class, but taking one! Dena Crain from South Africa is coming to do some workshops with our guild, and I’m doing the Darn Quilts workshop. It’s all about circles, and machine darning and it looks terrific. Here’s her website for you to have a look: http://www.denacrain.com/blog/?page_id=436 I’m really looking forward to learning new things that I can incorporate in my developing creativity.

I’m also going to be trying out my samples for a class I’m giving later in the year. I usually write the class, and then try out the samples to see if they work and deliver what I’m trying to teach. This process can sometimes take up to three tries before I’m happy with the exercise samples. So it should be fun today!

Last Sunday I posted the block pattern for West Virginia. I’m getting close to finishing those USA State Blocks; it’s been fun presenting the final 12 to you. Here’s the link to that article: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art1115.asp . There’s only Wisconsin and Wyoming left!!

I’ve decided to change around the articles on the opening page of the Quilt site of Bellaonline. I’m going to occasionally bring forward some older articles that I’ve written that might be of interest to you. You’ll still be able to trawl through the subjects as before, nothing else will change.

On the forum site this week I posted a question titled “In these tough times, what will be your projects?” Pop over and contribute your answer to that question. It will be interesting to see the different ideas emerge.

So, onto my gift for you this week. I’ve been looking for pretty Stitchery patterns to use on some aprons I’m making and came across these pretty patterns from PatternBee. Help yourself, they’re really sweet.

Well, I’m off to get into the day ahead. I do hope this little note finds you all well and coping OK with this crazy mixed up world we live in at present. Stay calm, Stay Cool, Stay Quilting!!

Cheerio for now
