June 10 2010 Quilting Newsletter

Hi there, it’s the Quilters Quarters newsletter time again, and I hope you are busy with your quilting and finding enough time to get those creative juices flowing. I know it’s tough sometimes, for us to make the time to quilt. I have always felt that time will never find you for quilting; you’ve got to MAKE time. I often block off “appointments” in my diary, simply for quilting. I treat those appointments like a doctor’s appointment. I don’t break them. That way, I do make the time for my passion and the balance of life and work is restored. You should try it sometime!

I chaired the first meeting of the Sunshine Linus last Monday. When I say chaired, I really just got the ball rolling and would you believe we had 25 eager, big hearted volunteers attend. I was blown away with the response. We talked a lot about the what, how, why, and where’s of making quilts for charity and had lots of good laughs along the way. I can’t wait for the next gathering next month. I’m certain this group will go from strength to strength and provide (along with other groups on the coast) vital and necessary community support on the Sunshine Coast. I was a ‘buzzing all week!!

Last Sunday I posted another article to do with Color Theory for Quilters. This time I researched the color yellow and brought to you all the information I could find on using the color yellow in your quilts. I dug up some very interesting stuff on yellow. I hope it’s of use to you when you’re choosing your colors for your next creation. Here’s the link to that article: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art9406.asp

The forum is very quiet at present – don’t forget it’s there for you to have your say. Here’s the link to the forums: http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=43
