Hieronymus Bosch Hieronymus Bosch is best known for his painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights" (1504) although this may not have been his title. This is a triptych (three panels) and shutters. Usually a triptych in this size would be for an altarpiece. This, however, was not known to be commissioned by a church. The left wing, "The Earthly Paradise" depicts Eden, the center panel shows "The Garden of Earthly Delights," and the right wing depict "Hell." A very small representation of God can be seen in the upper left hand corner and a Latin quotation from the thirty-third psalm is written on the top. When closed, the outside two panels are painted in grey tones. The Earth is shown, uninhabited, representing the third day of Creation, taken from Genesis. "The Garden of Earthly Delights" can be seen in the Museo Del Prado, Spain.
