Greetings Everyone ~

Happy Summer to you all. Thursday will be the last day of school for Matthew with Friday being his tenth birthday.

Open House at the CAMP is July 5th. We finished the IEP for Matthew last Thursday and I am still contemplating signing the IEP. They said technically he is not due any comp time for Speech, but at first she said 10 sessions and then produced some memorandum regarding the Union and when comp time can be claimed. Because the school is year round there are weeks that related services personnel are off calendar, so that is the reason services started one month late. Parents are always the last to know regarding anything school related.

I have always signed IEPs, never had an advocate or lawyer with me and not sure I want to pursue this comp time, because the bottom line is that the caseload is at maximum already for the SLP. I would rather the school placement be at a closer school that is not year round, but that is filled up beyond the maximum with ten students.

Today marks one year that I have been the Editor here at Autism Spectrum Disorders. In honor of this date I am including an article I wrote a year ago as it could be beneficial this summer season.
