Here's the latest article from the Attention Deficit Disorder site at BellaOnline.com.
Greetings from the hot and muggy Land of Oz!
No tornadoes this week, but we did have an amazing thunderboomer or two. We also had a couple of days of perfect weather. For the past couple of days, we have had high temps and high humidity. It is just like a sauna out there, and not in a good way. That makes it easy to stay at my word processor and write-or it would if I could pull my ADD out of hyperdrive!
It's sneak peak time for loyal readers of the newsletter! Here is the latest article on the ADD site.
There are many components for helping your child find success in school. Reading is a foundation for that success. This week's article tackles the problem of reading for meaning.
What can you do when your child can sound the words out as he is reading, yet he seems to have no idea about what he just read? How does he feel when he can't answer the reading questions in class? Try this strategy and help your child learn a way to develop Reading for Meaning!
There is still enough of summer left to help your child with his reading. You can get a jump-start on the school year by establishing this strategy as part of your daily routine.
I think that you will be surprised at how quickly it works. Let me know how it is going. I encourage you to post in the ADD forum. If you are not comfortable with that, since this can be a sensitive issue, you may e-mail me through the link at the bottom of my biography. Seriously, I really want to know how this works for your child!

Since I am serious about letting loyal viewers know the latest about the ADD site, I want you to know that I am writing an e-book that will be published by BellaOnline. It is tentatively titled School Success with ADD. Many of my articles will be in there, organized to help parents optimize their child's school success. There is also new material included before each article and in a forward and afterward.
I was perking right along on the book, and then I needed to make a quick road trip to Texas. Now, I'm stalled out! My ADD has really kicked into full gear. Any suggestions about getting back on track? I'll keep you updated on how it's going. As I get closer to publication, you'll be the first to know!
Have a blessed week, and stay safe over the holiday!
Connie
