July 1 2011 Crime Newsletter

Greetings, fellow crime buffs! I'd like to wish a happy Canada Day to my subscribers to my north and a happy Fourth of July to my fellow Americans. Canada Day just happens to be your Crime Editor's birthday as well. ;)

This week's article focuses on the assassination of James A. Garfield, the 20th US President. Saturday, 7/2, marks the 130th anniversary of his shooting, though he did not die until September. His assassin mounted an interesting defense, in part that the doctors who introduced infection into Garfield's body actually caused his death. However, had he not been shot, he wouldn't have needed the medical care given by the doctors, so it was a moot point.

Be safe during your holiday celebrations-be careful with your fireworks and always designate a driver! See you all again next week.

Here's the latest article from the Crime site at BellaOnline.com.
