A Medicine Wheel might be described as a bunch of rocks laid in a circle on the ground. But these have been constructed for thousands of years and represent the Sacred Circle of Life and a balance we each must strive for.

Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC near Winston-Salem has a Medicine Wheel. It was first constructed in 1992 and is open to the public. This park also hosted the Strong Sun Pow Wow held this past weekend. We returned home with sunburn which supports that appropriate name! What a great gathering, with people from so many Nations, Apache, Cherokee, Lakota, Lumbee, Occoneechee, Navajo and more. Despite the heat, the dancers were awe inspiring. WILDFIRE UPDATE: The largest wildfires in the history of New Mexico have damaged and continue to threaten Tribal lands of the Santa Clara and Cochiti Pueblos. Almost half of Bandelier National Monument Park has burned, and the flames have come within miles of ancient cliff dwellings.
