Here is some trivia from the Sopranos:

Lorraine Bracco, who plays Tony's therapist, Dr. Melfi was originally cast to play Tony's wife Carmela, but Bracco said it would be too close to the character she played in "Goodfellas."

Ray Liotta was asked to play Tony Soprano but he did not want to committ to a television series.

The Sopranos was originally going to be a series on Fox starring Anthony LaPaglia before HBO picked it up.

The Sopranos was the first cable television series to win an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.

The Soprano house used in exterior shots is located at 14 Aspen Drive in North Caldwell, N.J.
