Hi all
I have just returned from three weeks in New England. I spent a week visiting wineries in Finger Lakes then drove through Vermont to Maine where we stayed in Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. The name comes from the bare stone peak of Mt Cadillac, highest on the eastern seaboard, but the island is no desert. It is cut with fiords and packed with pure lakes and clear streams. Forests cover the island and blueberries grow wild. Most of the island is covered by Acadia National Park, the first in the eastern USA.
I didn’t expect to find a winery surrounded by vineyards, but I did, and they make wine from local blueberries which I had to taste. The winery is owned by the Maffucci family and daughter Enrica poured me a glass and told me about the winery and their future plans. Read about my visit here
