Hello Beauties,

I’m sure at some point we have all heard the joke “better take her swimming on the first date.” This cruel joke, for those that may not have heard it, suggests that if the woman does not look good underneath the makeup then at least you can find out before you start dating. I’m sure many women have also heard the phrase “that’s too much makeup.” This phrase usually has the intention of shaming others for the amount of makeup they wear. This newsletter is to reassure you that you do not need to feel ashamed for loving makeup, or worry about how much of it you wear.

Hopefully by now we have all learned that we can’t please everyone. You need to worry about your own happiness. If you love to purchase the newest cosmetics out there, and you have the means to do so, then go ahead! If you love to prime, lay down a flawless base, slay your eyebrows, contour, bronze, blush, highlight, wear lipstick, and finish it all with setting spray, then don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t. If you never leave the house without at least a little makeup on then more power to you.
Many people that criticize often think makeup is for those that are insecure or for those trying to attract a mate. There may be some that wear it for those reasons but they should not be shamed for it if it makes them comfortable. Many enthusiasts however, wear makeup because we consider it a form of expression. We consider it a form of art and we constantly push ourselves to create something new. How is it any different from painting with the canvas being your lovely face?

Remember to always be yourself. Remember to allow others to do the same. You are beautiful and you are fierce with or without makeup. Wear it proudly. Whether you are just starting out and haven’t perfected winged liner, or if you’re a cut crease pro, don’t let anyone shame you for doing what makes you happy.

Stay gorgeous,

Katrina Simmons
