On June 23rd, Philip Johnson's Famous Glass House opened to the public. Located in New Canaan, Connecticut, the house was originally given to the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1986. Johnson would continue to live there until his death in 2005 at age 98.
Glass House, a 56 X 32 foot "box" was built in 1949, the postwar era. Located on 47 wooded acres, some of the other buildings on the estate display works of art by such notables as Frank Stella and Julian Schnabel. Johnson's partner, the late David Whitney, was an art dealer and collector.
