The old adage "practice makes perfect" applies to most everything we do. Sewing zippers into a new garment or home decor project would of course be no exception.
The now common place zipper is a simple mechanism first seen in the 1800s and attributed to its inventor, Whitcomb L. Judson. He called it a clasp locker.
