Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

Tasting great craft beer has a way of awakening your senses, drawing you into the art of distinguishing the fine nuances in flavor that are the mark of each individual signature.  If you want the real details that make a beer a "classic style," Brewers Publications has the answer in 12 volumes:

Pale Ale by Terry Foster
Porter by Terry Foster
Continental Pilsner by David Miller
Lambic by Jean-Xavier Guinard
Vienna, Maerzen, Oktoberfest by George & Laurie Fix
Bock by Darryl Richman
Scotch Ale by Greg Noonan
German Wheat Beer by Eric Warner
Belgian Ale by Pierre Rajotte
Stout by Michael Lewis
Alt by Horst Dornbusch
Barleywine by Fal Allen & Dick Cantwell

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

A bear walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a beer.  The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't give beer to bears in bars."

The bear replies, "If you don't give me a beer, I'll eat that lady over there."

The bartender says, "Go ahead."

So the bear eats the lady and asks for a beer.  The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't give beer to bears on drugs."

"What do mean," says the bear. "I'm not on drugs."

"Yes, you are, that was the barbituate."

Beer News:

The National Football League renewed an exclusive contract with Coors Brewing Company as  "Official Beer Sponsor" through the 2010 season. Tradition continues after three profitable seasons.

Craft Brew of the Week Award:

Founders Red's Rye - Founders Brewing Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Style - Rye Beer

Hazy, lazy crimson in appearance with a constant, slick, off-white head on top, sporting exuberant sheets of lace.  The nose is full of spiced tropics - a cornucopia of fruit and lupulin: fleshy grapefruit, kiwi, orange marmalade and resiny oils.  Palate fills with malt and fruit explosion, and a sharp, clean spicy bitterness.  Easy to love!

Cheers!
