Andromeda the Chained Princess
Andromeda stands in the northern sky eternally chained to her rock. She is one of the five constellations that Ptolemy described in the second century, all part of one particular ancient Greek myth. In the constellation is a quadruple star, a blue snowball, exoplanets and spiral galaxies.

If you’ve ever dreamed of having your name in lights, here’s your chance. How much more spectacular could you get than having your name written in galaxies! Over a quarter of a million people have helped the Galaxy Zoo citizen science project sort a million images of galaxies from the Sloane Digital Sky Survey. Some of the shapes look rather like letters of the alphabet. From this the galaxy alphabet was born.

Dr. Steven Bamford of the University of Nottingham has created a website that lets you turn your name – or any message – into the galaxy font. http://www.mygalaxies.co.uk At my first go, I didn’t think it looked much like my name. But there is an option to get a new combination of galaxies.
