I mentioned that I was searching for the origin of this quote on roll tatting:

"And I am seeking the source of this quotation:

"Those who do shuttle-work will welcome this novel method of developing new patterns or copying old ones. Practically any design can be made of it, although some are more suitable than others..."

Many thanks to Susan Gilbert who located the quote in the Priscilla Tatting Book #3 on page 24. It is the introduction to the section on roll tatting!
