I wanted to pass along this information I just read:
http://www.theroot.com/views/company-offers-blacks-free-dna-testing-ancestry-info
"The company, 23andMe, is inviting 10,000 adults of African descent to sign up for a free account -- waiving the $399 fee -- and provide a saliva sample, agree that their genetic information can be used for research and answer a series of online health surveys. (For your free kit, visit 23andme.com/store, add a kit to your cart and upon checkout, enter this code for The Root readers: QDPEBG. The offer runs through Dec. 31, 2011.)"
Make a list with the correct spelling of your family. Some people were able to make one order for several kits but you have to type in their names. It will appear on the kit.
I DO NOT know the owners of this company, it is just an announcement I read on Facebook and wanted to give my readers a chance to see if it is something they could benefit from...
