Holiday/Seasonal Cooking

September 27 2007 Holiday/Seasonal Cooking Newsletter

Hi everyone,

I hope this letter finds you well and happy! Well, good things are happening here. First I've been working on stores and trying to make sure I get products that I know some of you have been using or are looking for. I've also included sections on childrens cookbooks and cookware for those of you with children. You'll find about everything I know I've talked to several of you about through emails plus so much more. If you go look at the stores and don't find something you'd like to see please let me know and I'll do what I can to find them for you. They are still a work in progress but I'll put the links at the bottom of this email so you can see if things you love are there. They'll really be a big help for finding those "hard-to-find" products and specialty foods for the holidays.

Second, just in time for cold weather here in the states, I've included an article on tomato soup with great recipes and ideas to make it fabulous! The link to that is down below. If you love tomato soup you will definitely want to check that out.

Also, like I promised on my site I actually did check out the possibility of making fruit chips. Some of the fruits work better than others.. for example.. mango makes a great chip! They have a great tang to them and the dips for fruit dips are just as varied as for potato chips. Yogurt dips with honey or vanilla, Cream cheese dips, Sprinkles with cinnamon and sugar for apple chips, your imagination is the limit on these!

I actually like cheese dip with apple chips. I've heard that pineapple makes a great chip too but haven't tried that yet. Don't forget that there are a variety of vegetables besides potatoes that make great chips too.. Squash, pumpkin, firm tomatoes and more! I've even have turnip, green bean (whole) and carrot chips..
Lightly season.. you don't want to overwhelm the taste of the chips with a ton of salt lol But try to experiment .. Your guests will love your creativity when you serve up a platter of these exotic chips.. :)

Oh yes, fruit chips need to be well drained in a basket after frying and they cook really quickly.. and BURN quickly :) found that out the hard way.. but they are soo worth the effort!

You all have a great weekend and don't forget to let me know if something is not included in my stores you would like to see. I love to hear from you no matter what you want to talk about so feel free to write anytime!
