September 5 2006 Horses Newsletter

Greetings fellow horse enthusiasts!

I apologize for not getting a newsletter out to you sooner; August was a very busy month for me. One of our cats had five kittens and the house has been abuzz with all the excitement, preparation and worry that goes along with new life -- so far, everyone's fine :).

Also, I was making final edits and photo arrangements for a feature article I wrote for Natural Horse Magazine. Entitled "Safe Turnout," the article will be in the September/October issue (Volume 8, Issue 5). Natural Horse Magazine, which is also available online, is a great resource for horse lovers; it is full of valuable information. The issue will also contain the latest information on high sugar grasses and I highly recommend it.

Speaking of articles, there are two new ones on the Horses Site which may be of interest to you:

Trail Riding Safety Tips
Trail riding is one of the great pleasures of horse ownership. However, if a rider does not consider trail safety first, it can turn into a nightmare trip. Make sure you are equipped to handle any trail emergency so you can relax and enjoy that ride.

The Clydesdale Horse
Scotland“s own native horse, the Clydesdale, is a remarkable animal. Having a long history in the U.K. as a farmer“s helper, they are finding new careers in the wedding carriage and logging industries. Learn more about these gentle giants from the moors of Scotland.

ADOPTION LINK OF THE WEEK

Today's adoption link serves the Midwest.  Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation, Inc. is located in Wisconsin and is a valid non-profit.  They are overloaded with horses at the moment.  If adopting is out of the question for you (they have paints, ponies and even donkeys looking for homes), please consider helping them meet their Winter Hay Drive goal if you are able.

That's it for now. Expect another newsletter in two weeks time, along with informative articles on all things equine! As always, drop me an email if you have an issue you'd like covered, or visit our Forums to discuss horses. Ride safe and see you on the trails.
