Greetings and Salutations -

I've just updated the site in a way which affects every article display. Even if you personally aren't using Facebook, please take a moment to read this.

As an example to see all of the features live, so my explanation is a bit more clear, please go to my Low Carb Cookbook article page -

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art171431.asp

Scroll down below the yellowish bar across the page that has the forum posts.

There are now three places we promote our articles with Facebook.

The first link is the second icon from the left in the row of icons immediately beneath the yellow bar. This row of icons was already there. These icons help our users quickly promote this article to whatever social networking groups they belong to - Twitter, Facebook, and so on. So the second icon in - the white F in a blue box - was already there. Clicking on it lets a Facebook user promote this page to their Facebook friends.

The second link is brand new as of today. It shows up on every single article in our site. It is the "Like" / "Send" row immediately beneath the row of icons. This row is also a Facebook promotion of this article page. A Facebook user can click the button and instantly like the article page and also send a promotion of the article to their wall or to their friends.

The third link will ONLY show up for editors who have created a Facebook Fan Page for their site and entered that information into our Social Networking admin area. I'll talk about that area in a second :) I have created a Low Carb Facebook Fan Page and I entered my fan page's URL into the social networking admin area of BellaOnline. As a result, every article on my site instantly now promotes my fan page. You can see here that the top area encourages the visitor to like the fan page with one click. The lower area shows the latest posts the editor has made to their fan page stream. Both help encourage Facebook users to join into the conversation on Facebook.

If you don't have a Facebook Fan Page set up and active in our system yet, then this third area will NOT appear on your site.

SOCIAL NETWORKING ADMIN AREA

For now let's just focus on one area of the Social Networking Admin Area - the one where we enter our Site Facebook Fan Page information. Start here, on the list of currently active BellaOnline Facebook Fan Pages -

http://www.bellaonline.com/content/social/FaceBook_st_list.asp

Click through your fellow editors' fan pages, support them, and get a sense of what you might do with your own fan page!

Once you've created a fan page of your own, follow the link at the bottom of that page to enter the information for your own fan page.

I realize this can all be confusing. Feel free to email me if you have any questions at all and I'll help you through it. If you have general questions about how to do Facebook, we have an article here on the basics -

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art170373.asp

That links to pages on how to create short URLs for use in social networking and how to use social networking to efficiently promote your projects.

You can also post in the Social Networking forum area, and we'll all help out!

If you have any comments or suggestions on any of this, please let me know!

Have a great week :)
