Island Travel

May 11 2007 Island Travel Newsletter

People don’t have pets to leave them at home. Why should it be any different when they want to take an island holiday? Over the next few months, I’ll be developing a series of articles all about canines and their companions cavorting on beaches, hiking dormant volcanoes and sitting topside as they cruise through islands. Where to go, when to go and what to do – the series begins with a look at the endless beaches on the west coast of Vancouver Island, B.C., in and around Pacific Rim National Park.

Pet-Friendly Island Travel
Family vacations mean the whole family -- including Fido! From beachside walks to best beds, your island travel editor dishes up the first in a series of coastal getaways that will inspire you and your pup to seek a little island time.

You’ll also find a forum thread on the site linked to pet-friendly island travel. Join in and let us know your favourite place to spend the dog days of summer. To participate in this or any of the other free, fun online discussions, you can visit the community forum all about Island Travel directly by clicking this link -

I hope to hear from you sometime soon, either in the forum or in response to this email message. If you have ideas about article features you’d like to see on this site, a favourite island fair or festival to share, island travel books you’d like to see reviewed, or anything else related to island travel, just let me know!

If you know of someone who loves islands and travel, please feel free to pass on this newsletter.

Happy travels,

Megan Kopp, Island Travel Editor

P.S. I’m still looking for opinions on where I should go next – Maui or the Bahamas? What I’m hoping to get are ideas for an active, moderately-priced getaway that is a little off the norm (e.g. taking a mail boat to one of the Out Islands in the Bahamas for a kayaking excursion). Let me know if you have any suggestions!
