Hello,
It's been up again, down again, starting now, starting later -- the Hawaiian Islands Superferry has been a long time coming. I received notice that the service from Oahu to Maui and Kauai was starting earlier that the finally scheduled Aug 28 date, only to hear (after the article was written) that court injunction was halting ferry service to Maui. A day later, the Kauai route service was temporarily suspended because the Coast Guard could not guarantee the safety of the vessel on entering the harbour.
Suffice it to say, there have been a lot issues surrounding this new service, but the company remains optimistic that all will be resolved. Read on for the scoop on what they hope to offer and check out their website for the latest updates. It's an island story in the making, much like many of the Hawaiian islands -- full of fire and firmness.
