Quilting

January 29 2014 Quilting Newsletter

Hello again, just me dropping in with a cheery smile. Again, we are seeing extreme weather conditions around the globe. I hope wherever you are that you’re coping with what Mother Nature is tossing at you and that you’re finding time to get a little stitching done in between shovelling snow (in the northern hemisphere and watering a parched garden (in the southern hemisphere).

This week, I’ve been flat out stitching and binding quilts that have been long arm quilted by our volunteer quilter Diane. The quilts are fabulous and will be a great addition to the quilts Sunshine Linus will be giving away in February. I’m getting pretty good at making binding and sewing it onto the quilts. I hand stitch the binding down, and that takes a little longer. Thank goodness for DVD’s as there’s nothing on free to air TV worth watching while stitching!

I had a rather exciting experience last week with a friend who created something really wonderful. The beauty of this story is that my friend Claire – stepped out of her comfort zone and tried out new ideas without the help of patterns or diagrams. Here’s a link to my blog where I explain what happened and there’s a great picture too! http://whenlifehandsyouscraps.blogspot.com.au/

Last week I posted an article titled “eBooks vs Paper Quilting Books” and explores the pros and cons of using eBooks for your quilting reference library. Here’s the link for your interest: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art182516.asp
