Hello once again, welcome to the Quilters Quarters Newsletter. Today I participated in the annual “World’s Biggest Morning Tea” which is a fundraising event that supports the Cancer Council of Australia. It is one of the main fund raisers for this cause in Australia and is run each year in May.
The idea is that a group of people gather for morning (or in our case afternoon) tea and have raffles to raise funds for Cancer research.
My Sisters of Stitch group gathering incorporated the WBMT and we had lots of fun. There were lots of raffle prizes and of course the most wonderful home bake. I really love seeing (and eating) the wonderful goodies that come from the homes and hearts of our members.
I like to bake, but I like to quilt a bit more, so don’t get the chance to enjoy my own cooking. Mind you, someone else’s baking is always sooo much better. I don’t know how much was raised yesterday, but it will all contribute to an ongoing cause that has touched many hearts both here in Australia and overseas.
Last week I posted some more precious quilt poems that I’ve collected over the years. I do love these little gems of prose, and have quite a large collection. Pop over to this link if you’d like to know more: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art176504.asp
We had a few responses from quilters regarding their Mother’s Day gifts. Here’s the link to the forum for you to add your comments: http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php/forums/43/1/Quilting
