September 26 2012 Quilting Newsletter

Good morning to all, sorry I’m a day late with my newsletter. It’s been a pretty hectic week and will get busier as the week progresses. We had our monthly Sunshine Linus gathering on Monday and this is turning out to be a very very busy but fulfilling day for those of us that sew and organise as well as those who receive the fruits of our labours.

Here’s the link to the Sunshine Linus blog for you to see what when on at our last meeting. http://sunshinelinusgroup.blogspot.com.au/

We are getting organized for the Brisbane Quilt and Craft Show which is on in the middle of October. Sunshine Linus will be attending, sharing a booth with Project Linus of Brisbane. This is always a wonderful week of meeting people, collecting quilts and generally telling everyone about what we do. If you’re in Brisbane at that time, do pop in and see us at the show.

I’ve processed the quilt labels for the Queensland Quilters Quilt show for the past three years, and it’s been this week that it’s all been happening. We have a record number of quilts being entered this year, and I can’t wait to see the quilts. After processing all the labels, there are a number of quilt titles I’m keen to see in the flesh.

For those that are involved in organising quilt shows, we found that having quilt labels for the show instead of printing catalogues has saved us money, but has still allowed everyone to easily access the details of each quilt. The papers are slipped into a clear plastic sleeve and we use magnets to attach them to the quilts. The sleeves and magnets are reused each year.

Last Sunday I posted an article titled Judging Quilts – Workmanship. This is the third in the series I’ve been writing about what quilt judges are looking for when judging quilts. Here’s the link for your interest: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art178019.asp

Keep the gossip happening on the forum. Remember the forum has been set up for readers of the Quilting site to contribute. Here’s the link:
